The
charming city of Christchurch, widely known as New Zealand’s
Garden City, is the largest centre in the South Island. It’s
International Airport serves as the gateway from numerous international
destinations as well as to many cities and towns in New Zealand.
Christchurch
snuggles into the Port Hills, which are part of the crater rim
formed by volcanic eruptions. It spreads out into the largest
stretch of flat land in New Zealand, the Canterbury Plains.
The Avon River idles its way through the city, heading to the
Pacific Ocean east of the city. In the west beyond the plains
is the magnificent backdrop formed by the Southern Alps.
Christchurch,
while a modern city hasn’t lost its charm of the past
featuring a variety of older buildings, many built of stone,
in a neo gothic style. Close to the centre of Christchurch is
the spacious Hagley Park with its beautiful trees and Botanic
Gardens.
There
is a huge range of activities on offer in Christchurch and Canterbury.

and wineries. Canterbury offers almost any outdoor pleasure
