Your home is a beautiful, newly refurbished and redecorated large 5-bedroom home, built to a high standard. It is situated at 566 Cashmere Road, at the foot of the Port Hills on 18 hectares of farmland at the edge of Christchurch, surrounded by thousands of trees and home to native birds like Fantails, Bellbirds, and Kereru.
Best of all it is a mere 7 km from Christchurch's CBD (15 min drive or 30 min by bike) or 15 km to Lincoln University (15min drive or 45 min by bike). Nearest public transport is 20min walk away at Westmorland (Bus No.145). The Christchurch Adventure Park is 3 km away; Halswell Quarry Park 2 km; Pioneer stadium and pool 3.5 km; and Halswell Shopping Centre 3 km.
There is one off-street parking space for each room and garage space to store your bike.
The house is fully insulated, double glazed, and centrally heated by an air to water heat pump. One room has a full ensuite with toilet, one has its own shower, while the remaining four share a bathroom and two seperate toilets. Apart from your own private and lockable room, you are sharing living and dining rooms; a large sunroom; fully equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer (with your own compartments), electric oven, gas cooktop, microwave, and dishwasher. A washing machine and clothes dryer are available at no charge. On fine days you can make use of the extensive outside space with north and west facing decks and patios, enjoying the peaceful and quiet rural outlook.
Our House Rules
We have a set of house rules to facilitate and ensure a pleasant living environment for all residents. Please take time to read them them, should you be interested in applying to rent a room. They can be found in the "Document Download" section at the bottom of this page.
Every bedroom is fully furnished. While the furnishing in every room is similar, the rooms are of varying sizes and two of the rooms have some ensuite facilities.
The weekly room rates listed below include the rental fee as well as all amenity charges of $60 which include the cost of: SKY TV, Internet (Wifi), central heating (underfloor), power, gas, weekly cleaning of common areas (weekly), gardener and lawn mowing and disposables (toilet paper, etc)
Our weekly room rates include your own lockable and private bedroom and the shared use of all common areas (not including the basement except for bike storage).
Tenants are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and cleaning up all common immediatly areas after use.
Bedroom 1 - $330 per week is a large room with a full en-suite (bathroom with toilet) and a floor area of 27m2. This is the only downstairs bedroom and has a sliding door leading to its own patio.
Bedroom 2 - $290 per week is our largest room of 32m2 floor area and has its own ensuite shower, sharing two separate toilets with three other tenants.
Bedrooms 3 and 4 - $250 per week are standard rooms of 12.5m2 floor area, sharing a bathroom and two separate toilets with three other rooms.
Bedroom 5 and 6 - $260 per week are more spacious standard bedrooms of 15.2m2 floor area, sharing a bathroom and two separate toilets with three other rooms
Along with warm, comfortable and private rooms your home has common areas for all tenants to share. A sunny spacious lounge, large well-equiped kitchen.
Our house is ideally suited for mature single persons (e.g. post-graduate student or a professional on transfer to Christchurch) who is looking for a quiet and peaceful lifestyle, respectful to other flatmates and our property. Our rooms are not intended for short-term rental and the minimum rental period is three months. The whole property is a non-smoking area.
